How FrightLink Works in 3 Steps

What is FrightLink?

FrightLink is a sensor-led haunt automation system. Ghost sensors report visitor movement to a central Hub, and the Hub runs the scene assigned to that location β€” no operator standing by.

Everything runs through a small Hub that you plug into a wall outlet and configure with the FrightMaps app. Sensors report to it; the Hub selects the correct scene, schedules each cue, and sends output instructions to wired props or Executioners. One Hub is enough for almost any yard.

What do I need?

Three pieces β€” that's the whole system:

  • 1 Hub β€” the brain. Almost every haunt only needs one.
  • Sensors at every spot you want guests to trigger a scene. Two kinds:
    • Ghost β€” classic PIR motion sensor (passive infrared). Best when guests walk in front of it with a clear sightline.
    • Poltergeist β€” coming soon. It is not available to order yet.
  • Executioners β€” one per wireless prop output. Each plugs into a prop's 3.5mm try-me or step-pad jack and carries out cues scheduled by the Hub.

Why sensors? (Scenes & zones)

One sensor event = one assigned scene. A scene can cue any number of outputs in a timed chain, so a single Ghost on the front walk can run your whole haunt automatically.

Want different scares in different spots? Add more sensors so each location becomes its own event zone. The Hub keeps them separate: front-walk movement runs the porch scene, graveyard movement runs another, and hallway movement runs a third.

Remote Test & Override

From the app, an owner can request a diagnostic test or override of a saved Hub scene. The command goes to the Hub, which still applies the scene definition and schedules its outputs. This secondary tool is useful during installation and troubleshooting; normal visitor operation starts with Ghost sensor events.

FrightLink uses its own dedicated wireless mesh between the Hub, sensors, and Executioners β€” built for low latency and reliability in noisy haunt environments. Bluetooth is only used briefly during initial Hub setup with the FrightMaps app.
Yes. If your prop has a try-me button or 3.5mm step-pad input, an Executioner can connect it to the Hub. When Ghost reports visitor movement, the Hub runs the assigned scene and sends that Executioner its scheduled output cue. No replacing your prop or its built-in program.
No. The core path β€” visitor movement β†’ Ghost event β†’ Hub scene logic β†’ wired output or Executioner β€” works locally without internet or a phone standing by. Remote status, backups, updates, and off-property test tools require Hub WiFi.
Up to 600 ft line of sight between the Hub and any device under ideal conditions, with mesh hops extending coverage further. Typical real-world range is 100-300 ft depending on walls, fences, and metal between devices. For whole-yard haunts we recommend placing the Hub centrally.
Yes. Assign each Ghost to a separate Hub scene: movement at Sensor A can run Scene A while movement at Sensor B runs Scene B, even in the same room. Sensors report events to the Hub; they do not directly activate every nearby prop or communicate with Executioners themselves.
Your hardware keeps working locally. Ghost events, Hub scene logic, and scheduled outputs continue running. Remote status, off-property testing, and cloud backup pause until you resume.
Sensors and Executioners run on a 3000mAh LiPo. In typical Halloween-night use (deep sleep between triggers) you'll get a full evening on a single charge, with battery life depending on trigger frequency and sensor type. We recommend topping off the day of.
Yes, FrightLink is designed for sheltered outdoor haunt setups. The hardware uses IP-rated components, conformal-coated PCBs, and gasketed enclosures to help resist moisture. The assembled devices are weather-resistant, not waterproof, so place them under a porch, overhang, or weather cover. Do not leave them in direct rain or submerge them.
FrightLink hardware may be returned within 14 calendar days after delivery. Contact sales@frightlink.com before sending anything back. Standard returns must be complete and undamaged; the customer pays return shipping and original shipping is non-refundable.
